About three weeks ago the doctor said I had this ear virus...not an infection but a virus. He prescribed me Mecklizine for the vertigo and said it would clear up. Yesterday I went back and I still have it. It's gotten a little worse but he said it should clear up with in the week. I've never had problem with my ears and now this! Just wondering if any of you have ever had an ear virus!:blink:

Um...no...never heard of such a thing. I was told I probably have an inner ear problem and was told to see an ENT.

Never had it inside my ear. I have a strep virus on my ear lobe, that causes blistering on it, and it just clears up eventually, but never in the inner ear. :confused:

I had a virus in my ear, the balance bone to be exact.
I couldn't stand up with out passing out, not nice :(

Ive always had trouble with my ears, was really prone to ear infections when i was little and the inside of my ears are really sensitive but ive never had an ear virus? sounds nasty! :(

I had Vertigo once and they put me on meclizine or however you spell it. Talk about no fun. I couldn't stand or even sit on the toilet by myself, I kept throwing up and what nots. It was HORRIBLE!

It is an infection of the middle ear cavity due to the spread of infections from the nose and the throat through the auditory tube.

I've heard of ear infections but never viruses. Does antibiotics clear ear viruses up? I did pop my ear drum when I was seven and I had to have it repaired. I believe they took skin from under my arm to repair the broken ear drum. I have a scar behind my ear where they opened my ear up to repair it.

Ouch. I think antibiotics do work. It all depends on the person I guess..
